About KCWAC
KCWAC began with a group of women and nonbinary folks who knew we had to do something.
At first, that meant organizing a women’s march. We weren’t sure what would come next. We only knew that sitting still was not an option, and doing it alone was not enough.
What we found was that we were not alone. So many people were carrying the same grief, anger, fear, hope, and need for somewhere to begin.
KCWAC grew from that need: a place to connect, a place to take action, and a place that gives people something back.
We are here to help people find what action they are taking, find each other, and keep going.

What We Do

KCWAC supports protests, first-amendment actions, trainings, and community education. We build connection through socials and care-centered gatherings, support mutual aid through fundraising and collaboration, and help keep the story of this work alive.
What We Don't Do
We do not make space for bigotry, fascism, racism, transphobia, sexual violence, or people who defend them.
We are not here to debate anyone’s humanity.
We do not organize through police cooperation or surveillance. Our safety practices are rooted in community care, preparation, and protecting each other.
We are here to tell the truth, care for our communities, and stand up for each other.
Our City: Kansas City
Kansas City sits in the heart of the country, in a place shaped by border wars, abolitionist struggle, labor fights, civil rights organizing, and generations of people refusing to accept the world as it was handed to them.
This region knows what it means to be contested ground. From Bleeding Kansas to today, people here have had to choose what side of history they are on.
Kansas and Missouri are red. We know that. But we are here. We are rooted here. And we are still fighting for a freer, safer, more just future for all of us.
